Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been introduced in the Indian market eight months after was first showcased as a concept vehicle at the 2014 Auto Expo. It has been constructed on an all-new platform to maximise performance and efficiency. The car marks the presence of Maruti in the hotly contested C-segment sedan market in India. It has replaced the SX4 sedan that was on sale since 2006.
Look and Feel
The design of the car is based on the Suzuki Authentic concept that was first presented at the 2014 Shanghai Motor Show. It sports an aggressive front facade with chrome garnished trapezoidal front grille. The elongated boot and swept-back headlights further enhance its street presence. The side profile of the vehicle is rather conservative with delicately flared wheel arches, strong shoulder line and chrome door handles. It gets wrap around tail lamps at the rear along with a large bumper with integrated reflectors. It is longer than Hyundai Verna and Honda City
The interiors of the sedan get a simple design with an all-beige dashboard. It carries features like keyless entry and start, USB, AUX In, Bluetooth, automatic retract for OVRMs, navigation system and reversing cameras. An integrated audio system with a touchscreen unit is also present. Overall, the cabin is spacious and ergonomically designed.
Engine & Transmission
The Diesel engine is the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel unit that is on duty in several other Maruti cars. The petrol unit is the 1.4-litre K-series petrol engine that is found in Ertiga MPV. The former churns out 90bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque while the latter delivers 92bhp of power and 130Nm of torque. The car is available in both 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox options.
